From Marblehead to MAGA: The Spirit That Built America Can Save It
"On you depend the fortunes of America."
On this Independence Day, as we gather to celebrate with loved ones, let’s take a moment to honor the extraordinary sacrifices made by ordinary men and women who helped lay the foundation of our country.
While history books rightfully highlight the greatness of men like Washington, Hamilton, Jefferson, and Adams, there is a deeper, untold story: the heroism of everyday people in colonial America who sacrificed so much, up to and including their lives, to give birth to a new nation.
Take, for example, the small town of Marblehead in Massachusetts, home to the 14th Continental Regiment, which helped Washington’s army escape across the East River after the Battle of Long Island.
This same Regiment later rowed the Continental Army across the frozen Delaware River, fighting to achieve victory at the Battle of Trenton and turning the tide of the Revolution during the 'Ten Crucial Days’.
By the war's end, this small New England town was home to 378 widows, accounting for 35% of the town’s female population. A staggering 652 children never saw their fathers again.
All this in a town with a population of less than 5,000.
These were ordinary men and women, many of whom history has forgotten, who pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor for their beliefs.
And for that, we should be eternally grateful.
The challenges we face today demand the same level of fortitude and commitment that small towns like Marblehead demonstrated.
While the election of Donald Trump has led to many positive changes, including the recent passage of the “Big Beautiful Bill” that takes critical steps to restore American sovereignty by massively increasing funding for ICE, we must remember that we were just a head turn away from a sniper's bullet in Butler, PA, from this moment never happening.
The forces that seek to destroy America from within are strong as we were reminded by the anti-immigration enforcement riots in Los Angeles and the recent embrace of communist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.
To continue reclaiming what America has lost, while consolidating any gains as we build anew, we must show the same determination as those who seek to tear this nation down.
The challenges we face now, cultural, political, and demographic, require courage and clarity not just from one leader, but from all of us.
Dr. Joseph Warren’s words are as true today as they were then.
"Our country is in danger, but not to be despaired of. Our enemies are numerous and powerful, but we have many friends, determining to be free, and heaven and earth will aid the resolution. On you depend the fortunes of America. You are to decide the important question, on which rest the happiness and liberty of millions yet unborn.”
Act worthy of yourselves.
🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day. 🇺🇸
